EJ Jackson Thanksgiving Tradition Lives

EJ Jackson, the owner of Jackson Limo and a community hero passed away, on November 1st. EJ Jackson, who experienced poverty himself before becoming a successful businessman, gave away thousands of turkeys and complete turkey dinners for Thanksgiving to Los Angeles poor, for 33 years.

This year, EJ isn’t with us anymore, but the need for poverty relief – so deeply felt especially during holidays – is still here.

To honor EJ Jackson’s memory the Ellsworth Jackson’s family continues the tradition of giving this year, too! The thousands who have lined up around the EJ Jackson Limousine Service will receive turkey and Thanksgiving food boxes from volunteers who will include such celebrities as Edward James Olmos, Lou Gossett Jr., KiKi Shepard, Tone Loc, Dawnn Lewis and Congresswoman Maxine Waters.

Over 10,000 families will receive turkey dinners in spite of the organizer’s sudden death. EJ Jackson’s legacy lives!

Other Thanksgiving turkey and meals giveaways in Los Angeles area this year include:

  • The Inner-City Games and Hollenbeck Police Business Council’s 35th Annual Turkey Basket Giveaway at 2015 E. First Street in Los Angeles. (The turkeys are donated by former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, the executive commission of Inner-City Games.)
  • Senator Isadore Hall III’s 12th Annual Turkey Giveaway takes place at the Urban Youth Academy, 901 E. Artesia Blvd. in Compton.
  • The San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission’s 17th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner will serve holiday meals to over 500 homeless people at La Iglesia En El Camino: 14800 Sherman Way in Van Nuys.
  • “Sweet” Alice Harris will hold an Annual Turkey Giveaway at 10828 Lou-Dillon Ave. in Watts.

Some of the charitable Thanksgiving events are big, some are smaller but Angelenos express their thanks and share with the less fortunate. People live and yes, people die. Goodness lives forever.
