Northbound I-405 Closure in West L.A.Northbound I-405 Closure in West L.A. Between National Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard Planned Nights of April 7, 9. The I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project contractor is planning to close the northbound I-405 in West Los Angeles from National Boulevard to Santa Monica Boulevard to facilitate formal walk-throughs of the roadway project area in preparation for upcoming lane re-striping activities on Monday and Wednesday night, April 7 and 9. Closure information is as follows: The night of Monday, April 7: midnight to 5 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8 The night of Wednesday, April 9: midnight to 5 a.m. on Thursday, April 10 Ramps will be closed as early as 7 p.m., and lanes will begin to close at 10 p.m.

Ramp Closures:
Westbound I-10 to Northbound I-405 connector
Eastbound I-10 to Northbound I-405 connector
Olympic Boulevard/Pico Boulevard Northbound I-405 on-ramp (on Cotner Avenue)

Detours:
From Westbound I-10: Exit Bundy North, turn right to Northbound Bundy Drive, turn right on Eastbound Santa Monica Boulevard, and turn left to enter the Northbound I-405 at the Santa Monica Boulevard on-ramp. From Eastbound I-10: Exit at Overland Avenue off-ramp, turn right to Northbound Overland, turn left to Westbound Pico Boulevard, turn right to Northbound Sepulveda Boulevard, turn right to Eastbound Wilshire Boulevard, and turn right to enter the Northbound I-405 at the Eastbound Wilshire Boulevard on-ramp.

Work is dependent on favorable weather conditions.

Full Northbound I-405 Closures Between Getty Center Drive and Greenleaf Planned Nights of March 11, 12
The I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project contractor is scheduled to conduct a full night-time only closure of the northbound I-405 between Getty Center Drive and the Greenleaf onramp on the night of Tuesday, March 11 from midnight to 5 a.m. (morning of Wednesday, March 12) and the night of Wednesday, March 12  from midnight to 5 a.m. (morning of Thursday, March 13).  The closure will accommodate shifting k-rail from the inside lanes to the outside lanes and shifting traffic to the west. A restriping of the freeway lanes in this area will take place.

I-405 Sepulveda Pass ProjectThe I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project will add a 10-mile HOV lane and improve supporting infrastructure such as ramps, bridges and sound walls on the San Diego Fwy. (I-405); while widening lanes from the Santa Monica Fwy. (I-10) to the Ventura Fwy. (US-101).

This project will reduce existing and forecasted traffic congestion on the I-405 and enhance traffic operations by adding freeway capacity in an area that experiences heavy congestion. In addition to these modifications, the project will improve both existing and future mobility and enhance safety throughout the corridor.

Project benefits include a decrease in commuter time, reduction in air pollution, and promotion of ridesharing.

The I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project will:

  • Add a 10-mile HOV lane on the northbound I-405 between the I-10 and US-101 Freeways
  • Remove and replace the Skirball Center Dr, Sunset Bl and Mulholland Dr bridges
  • Realign 27 on and off-ramps
  • Widen 13 existing underpasses and structures
  • Construct approximately 18 miles of retaining wall and sound wall.
