Wolf Kesh

Wolf Kesh: (M.A.) the founder of Essentrism – whose work has earned critical acclaim – is preparing to unveil his new Website and steal the show in Los Angeles and beyond!

The philosophy of Essentrism has at its center the belief that the reality of being human is concealed by the veil of   appearances. Only  after  the veil of the so called “reality” is lifted are we privy to the essence of  reality: the essence of  being, the essence of consciousness which consists of what REALLY matters: the spirit, thoughts and emotions: in other words: the substance behind the appearance.

As Essentrist Wolf expresses his artistic vision through prophetic art, contemporary figurative paintings created in mixed media on canvas. Wolf Kesh rejects the notion of an artist competing with a camera (in the era of internet, audio, video and cell phones everybody can be / is a master at creating superficial images): being a slave to narrowly defined stylistic criteria: or creating works of abstract.  Our lives and relationships demand other qualities than appearance. Abstract – which represents chaos – is a threat to our need for order and harmony.

Last but not least, in a world that is organized to the point of the absurd, it is the responsibility of an artist ( who by definition is a symbol of personal liberty) to express the deeper truth which would other wise remain unspoken. Not surprisingly, Wolf Kesh` prophetic art is a part of over 2,000 private and corporate collections in the United States, Europe, Australia and even South Africa. His prophetic art is gaining critical acclaim: it is highly valued by European art collectors and is gracing the walls of several major Hollywood celebrities, including California’s ex-Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Wolf Kesh is preparing to unveil his new Website and steal the show in Los Angeles, for information about Wolf Kesh’ paintings contact http://internetrealestatetycoon.com

Clippers Owner Donald Sterling racist!Calling racist statements that were allegedly made by Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling “incredibly offensive,” President Obama says he is confident the NBA will resolve the controversy that erupted after was aired this weekend.
“I don’t think I have to interpret those statements for you; they kind of speak for themselves,” Obama said when he was asked about the recording during his visit to Malaysia Sunday. He added, “When ignorant folks want to advertise their ignorance you don’t really have to do anything, you just let them talk. And that’s what happened here.” The president also noted that the NBA has “an awful lot of African-American players. It’s steeped in African-American culture. And I suspect that the NBA is going to be deeply concerned in resolving this.” “Donald Sterling will not be receiving a lifetime achievement award from the LA Branch of the NAACP,” the civil rights organization says, echoing statements made on Meet the Press Sunday by NAACP Interim President and CEO Lorraine C. Miller.
Sterling had been in line to receive the award, the latest honor that was to come his way from the NAACP. In a , Miller said she is urging the Los Angeles branch of the organization to rescind the earlier awards, as well. On NBC’s , Miller appeared alongside longtime sportscaster Bryant Gumbel, who said, “I guess I’m surprised that anyone is surprised.” Gumbel said, “Donald Sterling’s racial history is on the record. It has cost him money. It cost him his reputation long before this.” Saying that “I’m kind of surprised that the NBA is being let off the hook on this,” Gumbel added, “David Stern and the NBA owners knew what kind of a man Donald Sterling was long before this.”

Our original post continues:

The NBA says it is investigating the audio recording to determine whether the man speaking on it is in fact Sterling. Commissioner Adam Silver said last night that the recording is “disturbing and offensive” and that the league hoped “to have this wrapped up in the next few days.”
As we reported Saturday, the recording is of a man and woman arguing about several things, particularly her sharing photos online that show her “associating with black people,” as the man puts it.
The recording was posted online by Friday night, sparking anger and controversy that derailed talk about this weekend’s NBA playoffs. Last night, the Clippers released a statement in which the organization didn’t outright deny that the voice on the recording belongs to Sterling. But the team says the views aired in the recording are “the antithesis” of who Sterling is.

Here’s part of the Clippers’ statement about the recording, via the :

“We do not know if it is legitimate or [if] it has been altered. We do know that the woman on the tape — who we believe released it to TMZ — is the defendant in a lawsuit brought by the Sterling family alleging that she embezzled more than $1.8 million, who told Mr. Sterling that she would ‘get even.’ ” The team says that Sterling is upset about the “sentiments attributed to him” and that he apologizes to anyone they offended — including Magic Johnson, who is mentioned by name in the recording when the man says, “don’t bring him to my games.” In discussing the controversy, President Obama talked about “the vestiges of discrimination” that are still present in America. And he said that in a sense, the outrage over the remarks is itself a sign of progress:

Falcon Theatre presents ABBAMEMNONFalcon Theatre presents Troubadour Theater Company’s ABBAMEMNON
Directed by Matt Walker
Previews begin June 6, 2014
OPENS Friday, June 13 at 8pm
April 24, 2014 Burbank, Falcon Theatre is proud to present Troubadour Theater Company’s ABBAMEMNON, directed by Matt Walker. Join us for a hysterical musical reimagining of the classic Greek tragedy Agamemnon, the sordid story of seduction and scheming, with the sweet Swedish sounds of the Seventies. In this irreverent Dancing Queen-filled romp, the Ovation Award-winning Troubadour Theater Company brings the noise, the funk, and the dysfunctional-family vibe to this masterwork of the Greek canon. Why does Cassandra’s S.O.S. plea to Take a Chance on Me fall on the deaf ears of the Elder Chorus? Will Clytemnestra’s plan to kill Agamemnon come to fruition and will The Winner Take All? Will the Watchman ever get to sleep and say I Have a Dream? Will Aegisthus be able to pronounce his own name at Waterloo? Bloody and bold, fierce and funny, this production by the masters of mayhem is sure to entertain and enlighten.

ACM Awards 2014ACM Awards 2014: Country singers talk politics, George Strait awarded top honor, Perhaps inspired by November’s politically charged Country Music Association Awards, country crooners Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan did their best to heat things up at Sunday’s 49th Academy of Country Music Awards. And we’re not only talking about Bryan’s signature painted-on blue jeans. Although the ACM Awards co-hosts didn’t walk away with any awards, the duo stole the show with political punditry, lively performances and celebrity roasts. Bryan and Shelton also weren’t afraid to tackle hot-button topics such as same-sex marriage and the legalization of marijuana. “What a crowd we have tonight,” Bryan said. “Everybody in here tonight is ready to listen to some great amazing live music?” “And if you don’t like live music then you have to go down the block to see Britney Spears,” Shelton shot back. And the jokes didn’t stop there. “The truth is, a lot has changed nice we hosted this thing a year ago,” they said.

“This year, all you hear about same-sex marriage over and over again,” said Bryan. “A year ago, same-sex marriage meant once you got married, you had the same sex over and over and over again,” Shelton complained while the cameras turned to his wife Miranda Lambert who did not look amused.

“This year, marijuana is being legalized in state after state,” said Shelton. “Last year, you had to go to an official medical dispensary.”

“We call it Eric Church’s dressing room,” revealed Bryan.
These were the first of many less-than PG jokes the co-hosts made; a surprisingly more risqué opening than previous country music award shows.

The Band Perry opened the night’s show with a pumped up performance of their song, “Chainsaw,” complete with flashing lights and loads of confetti. The sibling trio, who won vocal group of the year, proved that powerful vocals and big hair is a sure recipe for success.

Martina McBride introduced the next performer who is also no stranger to success.

“George [Strait] is a true legend,” McBride reminded the audience. “He is the only artist in the history of music to have a top 10 hit every year for 30 years.”

It came as no surprise when Strait took away the night’s most prestigious award of entertainer of the year.

“I’ve always said I have the best fans in the world and I heard this was a fan voted thing, so I rest my case,” an emotional Strait said as he accepted his award.

Strait wasn’t the only country legend to be honored at the award show; Garth Brooks presented Merle Haggard with the Crystal Milestone Award. It was also Haggard’s 77th birthday and he was treated to a medley of his songs performed by Lambert and Strait.

“Country music has been great to me all my life, and it’s great again tonight,” a happy Haggard said. “Thank you everybody for participating in one of my most eventful evenings.”

Another artist who enjoyed an eventful evening was Lambert who walked away with female vocalist of the year for the fifth time. In addition to performing with Strait and singing solo her new single, “Automatic,” Lambert won single of the year for “Mama’s Broken Heart,” and vocal event of the year for her performance of “We Were Us,” with Keith Urban.

“I was just hanging out with Trisha Yearwood [backstage], holy crap, and I was standing next to Sheryl Crow, a complete and utter rock star. Kacey Musgraves, I grew up with her. She wrote the single of the year this year. And Carrie Underwood’s my buddy, y’all, and she’s a phenomenon,” Lambert said of her fellow nominees. “I can’t believe it, I’m so grateful and humbled.”

Musgraves didn’t walk away empty handed, the “Follow Your Arrow” singer won album of the year.

“I just want to say I’m really proud to be a woman representing country music,” a grateful Musgraves said.

The night was full of special performances and collaborations including Lady Antebellum and Stevie Nicks and fans were delighted when Tim McGraw was joined by wife Faith Hill to perform “Meanwhile Back at Mama’s.” Shelton and his fellow “Voice” coach Shakira teamed up to perform their new song, “Medicine.”

More winners included male vocalist of the year, Jason Aldean, and song of the year winner Lee Brice for “I Drive Your Truck.” Florida Georgia Line unsurprisingly won duo of the year and performed their song “Stay” as well as “This is How We Roll” with co-host Bryan. Urban, who also performed, won video of the year with Tim McGraw and Taylor Swift for “Highway Don’t Care.”

The show’s new artist of the year award was awarded to “Point at You” singer Justin Moore whose nomination was surrounded by controversy. The singer was technically ineligible for the award because he had sold too many records to be considered “new,” but the Academy stood by their nomination and Moore took home his first ACM trophy.

“I was beginning to think there might be a height requirement for this award,” 5-foot-7 Moore joked. “Country radio, thank you for giving me a chance, a hillbilly from Arkansas. And all the fans and last but not least, my beautiful wife…thank you, I will never forget this.” politics, George Strait awarded top honor

2014 MTV Movie Awards“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” earned the prize for best film at Sunday night’s MTV Movie Awards, besting even top Oscar winner “12 Years a Slave.” “Hunger Games” stars also took home some of the night’s biggest awards. Jennifer Lawrence won best female performance and Josh Hutcherson was voted best male performer. Zany categories were also in abundance. Zac Efron earned best shirtless performance, while properly accepting his award, well, shirtless. Plenty of golden popcorn-shaped prizes were handed out at the 22nd annual MTV Movie Awards, but it was the summer movie teasers — and the stars attached to them — that really had Hollywood excited. Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Jamie Foxx, stars of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” coming May 2, introduced a brief clip of the film showing Spider-Man (Garfield) and the sparkling blue villain Electro (Foxx) battling in New York’s Times Square.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson, the star of “Godzilla,” opening May 16, presented Orlando Bloom with the award for best fight for his and Evangeline Lilly’s tussle with the Orcs in “The Hobbit:

The Desolation of Smaug.” Ellen Page, one of the stars of the upcoming “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” introduced a clip from the film that sees the X-Men joining forces with their younger selves. In the tease, some X-Men attempt to battle ruthless metal monsters using their special abilities. It’s the first appearance for some of the mutants — Blink, Sunspot, Warpath and Bishop.

The MTV Movie Awards have become the ideal platform for the Hollywood studios to promote their summer movies and this year was no exception.

First-look footage from “The Fault in Our Stars,” starring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, showed the beginnings of the onscreen couple’s romance in the heartfelt comedy.

Jared Leto presented Mila Kunis with the award for best villain for “Oz the Great and Powerful.” ”You just made my 12-year-old self dream come true,” said Kunis, looking very pregnant in a short, loose black dress. “And I just realized I’m the only woman nominated and I won.”

Receiving this year’s trailblazer award was Channing Tatum. The first male to gain the honor after Stone and Emma Watson, Tatum accepted the award from his “Jupiter Ascending” co-star Kunis and his “22 Jump Street” co-star Jonah Hill. Tatum admitted he thought he was being punked when he found out he would get the award.

On-hand to objectify the best male performance nominees were Leslie Mann, Cameron Diaz, Nicki Minaj and Kate Upton. “Matthew McConaugh-heyyy,” said Minaj. “I have a pair of bongos you can play.” But it was Josh Hutcherson who earned the win.

Jordana Brewster introduced the special tribute to Paul Walker, who died in a car crash last November. “I witnessed the generosity of his heart every day I was with him,” she said. “He wanted to make a difference in this world. His charm, wit, spirit and his beautiful smile will live on.” Clips from a number of his films and a glimpse of footage of the actor accepting the MTV movie award for breakthrough male performance in 2002 were shown.

“I’m always going to be here for you even when you tell me to go,” Vin Diesel said in a video clip. “That’s who Paul Walker was.”

Mark Wahlberg collected the generation award. “I know what this really means,” said Wahlberg, adding that this is the award that signifies “You’re done.”

“Many people have gotten this award before. Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, Jennifer Aniston…and you know what they all have in common? They’re all old. This is the too old to come back award,” said Wahlberg. “But it was as great run! I’m a lucky guy to have gone from being incarcerated to having a one-hit rap career to having an underwear modeling career to… I’m about to cry in a minute.”

Host Conan O’Brien kicked off the ceremony with a challenge to gain 50 celebrity cameos for his opening segment, a shtick with Will Arnett that merged two categories — best fight and best kiss — and a musical number about hating musical numbers in big awards shows.

Walking out to a track by rapper Rick Ross, O’Brien joked that he was almost injured by the show’s flashing pyrotechnics. “Fire, explosions and rap music: all things you associate with Conan O’Brien,” he deadpanned.

Earlier in the evening, Amanda Seyfried had trouble reading the teleprompter, blaming it on not wearing her contacts. “So far this is going about as well as the Oscars,” said her co-presenter Seth MacFarlane — referencing his 2013 Academy Award hosting gig — before the pair presented Hill with his award for best comedic performance for “The Wolf of Wall Street.”

Hill’s initial thanks went to all of his friends with whom he used to watch the show back home before making it to the ceremony himself.

In the preshow awards, the prize for best cameo performance went to Rihanna for her appearance in the comedy “This is the End.” Later, Rihanna took to the stage with Eminem to perform their hit “The Monster.” Performing tacks from the soundtrack of “Divergent,” Ellie Goulding sang “Beating Heart,” while Zedd took the stage for “Find You.”
Best kiss went to Emma Roberts, Jennifer Aniston and Will Poulter.
The MTV awards had some stiff competition from other networks on Sunday night, including the latest installment of HBO’s popular “Game of Thrones” and the final season premiere of AMC’s “Mad Men.”

Mysterious Self Realization Fellowship Lake ShrineJust inland from the Pacific Coast Highway and easy to miss when you’re rushing to catch the sunset, the mystical, mysterious Self-Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine is run by a non-denominational order that welcomes visitors but doesn’t proselytise to them. Set on a ten-acre site that was used as a film set during the silent era, the lovely gardens evoke old Hollywood: look out for the Dutch windmill chapel, the Mississippi houseboat and a number of gliding swans. The East, meanwhile, is represented by a gilded lotus gate enclosing a shrine that contains some of Gandhi’s ashes.

LAPD Investigating Every Car In Los AngelesLAPD Says They’re Investigating Every Car In Los Angeles, Including Yours.
The LAPD and LASD have been collecting information on every license plate in Los Angeles as part of an ongoing “investigation”—whether or not a crime has been committed. Big Brother much? The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) have been digging into the reasons behind why the LAPD and LASD has been hoarding this data without any “judicial oversight,” according to Boing Boing. The law enforcement groups have been using automatic license plate readers (ALPRs) mounted atop of their patrol cars and on telephones poles to take high-tech images of license plates, and logging info on the date and location of these instances, according to a press release from the EFF.
So, every time you drive by one of those cameras, your info is getting stored, even if you haven’t done anything wrong. And, according to EFF, you can learn more info about the owner of the car (say, for instance a home address) after doing a search on a license plate number.

The ACLU and EFF filed a lawsuit together against the LAPD and LASD in May 2013 under the California Public Records Act because the police groups wouldn’t release any info on policies and training regarding the ALPRs. They also refused to release a week’s worth of data so the ACLU and EFF could get an idea of what type of info they’re keeping and looking for, according to a release.

The LAPD’s response? “All ALPR data is investigatory—regardless of whether a license plate scan results in an immediate ‘hit’ because, for instance, the vehicle may be stolen, the subject of an ‘Amber Alert,’ or operated by an individual with an outstanding arrest warrant.”
So, in essence, it doesn’t matter if your record’s squeaky clean—everyone in Los Angeles is being investigated.
Jennifer Lynch of EFF argues this goes against our Fourth Amendment rights in a blog post:

“This argument is completely counter to our criminal justice system, in which we assume law enforcement will not conduct an investigation unless there are some indicia of criminal activity. In fact, the Fourth Amendment was added to the U.S. Constitution exactly to prevent law enforcement from conducting mass, suspicionless investigations under “general warrants” that targeted no specific person or place and never expired.”

LA Weekly pointed out that there are two dozen police agencies that have info on 160 million data points revealing where L.A. drivers have been on specific dates.

License-plate recognition hasn’t gone swimmingly in other cities. The Boston Police Department’s ALPR program was shuttered after it was found “that the department failed to protect personal data and that license plate readers were deployed primarily in low-income neighborhoods,” according to Aljazeera.

The LAPD, however, did acknowledge the privacy concerns in a brief:
The privacy implications of disclosure (of license plate data) are substantial. Members of the public would be justifiably concerned about LAPD releasing information regarding the specific locations of their vehicles on specific dates and times. . . . LAPD is not only asserting vehicle owners’ privacy interests. It is recognizing that those interests are grounded in federal and state law, particularly the California Constitution. Maintaining the confidentiality of ALPR data is critical . . . in relation to protecting individual citizens’ privacy interests”

There will be a hearing on this issue at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in April, according to EFF. Hopefully, there will be some transparency on ALPRs with less of a George Orwell’s 1984 dystopian future vibe.

Helmed by Geffen Artistic Director Randall  Arney, this production received critical acclaim last summer when it appeared at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre.

Petersen and Arney are ensemble members of the Steppenwolf Theatre. They met in 1980 while working on a production of Lanford Wilson’s Balm in Gilead. Known for his physical and emotional stage work, Petersen has starred such critically acclaimed productions as Fool for Love, The Belly of the Beast, Moby Dick and Glengarry Glen Ross. The Chicag o Tribune called Slowgirl,”Engaging, compassionate and well -written.”

The Chicago Sun- Times said , “Under the sensitive direction of Randall Arney, two arvelous actors William Petersen and Rae Gray deliver finely tuned, often surprising performances.” Escape is easy but redemption is hard. When seventeen year – old Becky is shipped off to her Uncle Sterling’s Costa Rican home — a sanctuary to which he escaped many years ago — the two lost souls navigate contrasting philosophies and a maze of regret.

Arney creates an astonishing “tennis court” design in the intimate Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater that will allow audiences to experience the play from two sides of the action.

President Bill Clinton Mayor Eric Garcetti Talk Environmental IssuesOne of the last times President Bill Clinton visited Los Angeles City Hall was in 2009 to nveil a proposal to replace most of the city’s aging incandescent streetlights with environmentally friendly bulbs.
Clinton returned on-Thursday, gain with a focus on environmental issues. The nation’s 42nd president joined Mayor Eric Garcetti to host a half-day conference on alternative energy and infrastructure improvements. Seated before 200 business and government leaders, Clinton and Garcetti talked about the importance of moving toward nontraditional energy sources.“Even the people who are semi climate-deniers acknowledge that we have to mitigate the impacts of extreme changes in the weather,” Clinton said. “And we have to prepare for more of an independent future, both politically as well as economically.” The “21st Century Infrastructure and Innovation for a Resilient Economy Forum” was hosted in part by the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), part of the Clinton Foundation, whose mission is to spark ideas and find solutions to the world’s most pressing problems, according to the organization’s website.

Alternative energy, climate change and pension investments were among the top topics discussed Thursday, with Clinton noting he was frustrated by the lack of available financing for alternative-energy projects such as solar, while coal plants can more easily obtain funding. “The financing mechanisms of America … and the distribution of political power are organized for protecting yesterday instead of creating tomorrow,” Clinton said. The gathering marked one of the first times Clinton and Garcetti have appeared together since last year’s tight Los Angeles mayor’s race. Clinton endorsed Garcetti’s rival Wendy Greuel and hosted a high-profile lunch for the former city controller at Langer’s Deli near downtown during the campaign.

The former president referenced the race Thursday but had a slip of the tongue and said Garcetti had been elected president, not mayor. Catching himself, Clinton told Garcetti, “You may become president one day.”
Pitching his own green innovations, Garcetti talked up the Department of Water and Power, outlining how customers at the utility can sell back their solar power to the DWP. The Los Angeles Fire Department is also looking at using solar, in the event disaster strikes and traditional power sources are unusable. Los Angeles has to be more resilient, Garcetti said, adding, “We’ve had two earthquakes in the last month.”Garcetti also praised the success of the 2009 Los Angeles streetlight program, a CGI initiative that converted more than 140,000 lamps and helped cut the city’s power bill by 63 percent, the mayor pointed out.

“We got traditional financing on it, and banks are now lining up to do the next round,” he said. “We’re looking at putting solar panels on each one of those. We’re looking at having Wi-Fi hotspots come up on each of them.”Thursday’s conference marked the fifth meeting convened by President Clinton to discuss infrastructure with mayors. After appearing with Garcetti, Clinton moderated a panel on pension fund investments with American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten, California State Treasurer Bill Lockyer, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber.
